Many people I talk to that have bought new Windows Mobile units such as the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and the HTC Touch Diamond have experienced some quite odd design flaws with them. If you own one of these devices, check below to see if you have experienced one of the three issues mentioned below, there are solutions available!
1. When I receive incoming phone calls, I often accidentally press the “Ignore” touch button when the device is in my pocket
When an incoming phone call is received on the newer HTC devices, the device always switches on and large “Answer” and “Ignore” buttons are shown on the screen. One day when I kept the Touch Pro in my laptop bag on my way to work I found out that the device had accidentally dismissed 10 phone calls automatically, just by being close to other stuff in the bag.
There is no way to prevent the screen from switching on automatically on incoming phone calls on the newer HTC devices. While you can lock the device, the lock will be disabled once an incoming phone call is received. The solution? Download TouchLockPro and prevent the screen from automatically switching on every time an incoming phone call is received.
But Windows Mobile has an OEM screen locker!
Yes, Windows Mobile locks the screen, but unlocks the Answer and Ignore buttons as soon as a call rings, so it is useless. The same happens when any notification pops up, the Snooze and Dismiss buttons are enabled even when screen is locked, leaving them vulnerable to any accidental touch.

What I love about TouchLockPro is that it works with the light sensor! Just install it, and when an incoming phone call is received TouchLockPro will query the light sensor of the device. If it’s dark (the device is in a pocket), the screen will stay locked. If it’s moved outside the pocket the lightsensor will unlock the device automatically! Fantastic!
2. On the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, the device always adds “Sent from my Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1″ to outgoing emails
While you can change this in the email settings, the signature will unfortunately always revert to the above every time you restart the device. The solution? Remove the file “SignatureReplace” from the folder “My Device > Windows > Startup”.
In order to remove this feature, use File Explorer to browse to: My Device>Windows>Startup. Then select the file named “SignatureReplace” and choose Menu>Edit>Cut. Then browse to another folder and paste the file elsewhere, Now you can change your signature in the Messaging application and it will stay that way after a reboot.

3. The menu font on the HTC Touch Pro is too large, and I have problems choosing menu items
HTC increased the font size on the Touch Pro by a huge amount, and this font setting is not affected by the system font size selection. The solution? Download Tweaks 2K and use it to change the menu font size to 9 points. You can even use the trial version for this.
Change the font size by:
- Start Tweaks2k
- Use Tweaks -> System Tricks -> System Tricks -> Collection 2 -> Enable [X] Font Size [9]
- Press [OK], then Tweaks -> Exit -> [OK]
If you like the Tweaks2k project, please support it by purchasing it.
